Maxis Hotlink Prepaid Card - Simplified Call and SMS Charges

I think many people have difficulty piecing the prepaid call and sms charges. Hope this summary helps! Always check back with Maxis website for updated charges

When in Malaysia
a. Local calls (Maxis and Hotlink) - 33 sen per min
b. Local calls (other numbers) – 35 sen per min
c. MMS (send to Maxis and Hotlink) 25 sen , (others)50sen
d. Local SMS (Maxis and hotlink) - 7 sen, 15 sen to other networks
e. Local Data 0.5sen per kb off peak, 1 sen per kb peak
*For data, peak is from 7am - 12am, off-peak is from 12am - 7am
f. Global SMS charge (sending to international numbers) – 20 sen.

g. International IDD calls (if you dial using the format - 00(country code)(area code)(phone))
This is now much cheaper. A quick comparison between IDD 00 and 132 finds IDD 00 having lower rates. You can try comparing it too!

When Roaming Overseas
a. Making calls – you need to dial using *120*00(country code)(area code)(number)#. Example, to call Malaysia mobile dial *120*0060171234567#

Call charges = *120* call back charges (check here for rates)

Note: A minimum balance of RM10.00 is needed in your prepaid account to make calls.

b. Sending SMS – RM1.00 for SMS back to Malaysia, or RM2.00 for SMS to any other countries.

To SMS, just key in the Malaysia number directly for example 0171234567. For international numbers, key +(country code)(area code)(number).
